Hotel details
From its position overlooking the Place de la Concorde in Paris, the Hôtel de Crillon is one of the city’s defining landmarks and renowned as a hotel of superlative luxury and service.
Originally built in 1758 on the commission of King Louis XV, this imposing building with its neoclassical façade has played host to some of history’s greatest events. Now, after a renovation that has taken more than four years, looking at the perfect balance between conservation and transformation, this special Paris icon is once more welcoming guests to the heart of the city.
The restyling retains elements of the 18th century design, notably in the grand reception rooms with their intricate and extravagant gilded pilasters and cornices. But otherwise, from the moment that guests step on to the polished stone floor of the foyer or slip into the newly fitted swimming pool with its gold-leaf embossed tiles, everything is new and even more opulent than the previous Crillon.
The hotel has 124 rooms, including 46 suites. Styling is bright and modern, but still retains the elegant imprint of the original design. A unique feature for Paris is the personal butler service.
The hotel’s signature restaurant is presided over by Christopher Hache, who held a Michelin star in the previous establishment. The restaurant offers intimacy with just 26 covers and a delight of a 12-course set menu.
And, as befits such a Parisian institution, the hotel’s cavernous and elegant ‘Les Ambassadeurs’ bar serves no less than 135 types of Champagne, all of which can be enjoyed with an equally wide-ranging caviar menu.
